NoCore – Untold-scapes
“Untold-scapes” is a performative and multimedia exhibition where, through different video installations and live/virtual performances, it is possible to look deeply at the stories of men that have faced discriminations related to gender expectation.
The name -SCAPE, a combining form extracted from landscape, denoting “an extensive view, scenery,” or “a picture or representation” of such a view, as specified by the initial element: cityscape; moonscape; seascape. [based on The Random House Unabridged Dictionary, © Random House, inc. 2022]
The UNTOLD refers to all the thoughts, stories, opinions, experiences, desires that we ALL often don’t tell to anybody for different reasons: for not being judged, for not revealing our truths, for not feeling rejected or for a simple difficulty of expressing them. But some people have untold backgrounds for not risking their lives!
Body movements and the artistic research combining video and dance, can help us to express deep feelings without using the words, in some kind of ritual action that lets us free from our pasts.
The visitors are free to explore the exhibition in the way that they prefer. There are interactive installations where the visitors can participate and feel to be part of the community. Everyday we will do a short performance focusing on one of the stories displayed. Afterwards we will facilitate a small workshop for the audience to give the artistic tools to be able to transform their own untold stories into small performative actions.
Workshops are facilitated in English and Basic Finnish. The workshops are based on the research through free movements and authentic movements, and it does not require any experience in dancing.
