OPEN CALLS FOR DANCE FILMS

This year, Tanssiartesaani renews its partnership with Scenkonst Sörmland (Eskilstuna, Sweden). Together we are merging parts of the programs of Winterdances and Dansfilmsdagar  and launching two open calls for dance-film artists:

1.“Movements for Caring” — Short Dance Film Selection

1) “Movements for Caring” — Short Dance Film Selection

We are looking for short dance films to be presented at Winterdances 2026 (Finland) and Dansfilmsdagar 2026 (Sweden).

Movements for Caring
Short dance films that explore care, connection, and sustainability—social, environmental, human rights, economic, and political dimensions.

What to submit

• Length: up to 6 minutes

• Language: any (English subtitles mandatory)

• Target audience: youth 12+

What you receive

• Screenings in both Finland and Sweden as part of the official festival program.

  • Finland: 4 school screenings + 2 general public screenings in Loviisa (8–9.2.2026) and Porvoo (26–27.2.2026)

  • Sweden: 5 school screenings, 2 public-space screenings, and 1 general public screening at Scenkonst Sörmland (18–23.5.2026)

• Screening fee: 200 € (via invoice), covering all presentations in both countries

• Visibility: promotion on festival social media channels

2) Dance Film Symposium — Artist Labs & Screenings (Eskilstuna, Sweden)

What it is
Open call for five (5) dance-film artists to take part in an international symposium during Dance Film Days at Scenkonst Sörmland, Eskilstuna, Sweden.
Dates: 22–23 May 2026 (arrival 21 May, departure 24 May)

Who can apply

• Artists currently based in a Nordic or Baltic country

What you’ll do

• Present your dance film and screen it in a public showcase

• Lead a 1.5-hour lab/workshop for the symposium group (methods, ideas, practices)

• Join peer exchange, dialogue, and collaborative exploration

What we offer

• Artist fee: 500 € (includes film screening rights during the two festival days)

• Travel & accommodation: covered by Scenkonst Sörmland

• By applying, artists agree that short excerpts may be used in the official Dance Film Days 2026 trailer
